    Be careful in Taksim square and Istiklal street (Turkish: İstiklâl Caddesi; then main walking street of Istanbul with lots of shops and restaurants and at night street performers).

    Maybe several years ago only Aksaray area in Istanbul had a bad reputation for unsafe bars where they charge you with 500 TL (about 200 US$) for a drink with a nasty ugly girl just sitting beside you. The menu of these places shows 500 TL for single wine drink !!!!.

    But nowadays Taksim area has also become unsafe with similar old tricks. Usually there are guys hanging out on Taksim Sq. or on Istiklal St. and they approach you with this trick that looking at the girls are free and you do not need pay anything. When questioned, they claim that these bars are legal and bad things happen only in Aksaray, not here in prestigious area like Taksim. But they are lying. Bad things are happening in Taksin as well. For your safety, please do not even look at these guys when they address you on the street and do not talk with them.

    For example, there is a bar in one of the alleys of Istiklal St. on the right hand (when heading down the street from Taksim Sq.) with a neon sign of "DEEP" club. Do not go to this place. There is a narrow staircase going up and there you see 4-5 girls dancing. There is a sister club one or two alleys away with the similar manager and same trick. In this bar the staircase goes down and with the same story. This will happen in a bad memory from your trip to Istanbul and maybe 1000 TL charge for two drinks or bad fight and similar problems which ruin your travel. Hope to be useful.

    This is so annoying in Turkey. It is not bad just for the person who gets robbed, but also bad for the whole country´s economy. I travelled with my friend first time in Turkey years ago. We travelled for 2 weeks together and loved the country, never got scammed a lot except by the taxi drivers and this happens almost every where in the world. But I had to leave to the Marmaris and my buddy staid 1 extra night in Istanbul alone. He got scammed by the same way at the club. Met a guy on the street, then went to the bar with him, had a couple drinks, then the guy left and my buddy asked for a bill and it was 700TL. He had to go the ATM, withdraw more cash and pay the bill.

    After that every time I see him, he keeps telling how bad place Turkey is and he keeps telling this to everyone. This is why Turkey gets so bad reputation and it is sad because there are still good people over there.

    It certainly is a good place. It's a 'Pound-in-the-Jar place so no entrance charge (see earlier posts). Beer should be less than ukp5 a pint. A large glass of wine, which is just about drinkable, will be under ukp6. I don't drink spirits so not sure about that. ISTR a bottle of fizzy wine will start at about ukp60 but I don't usually buy that.

    Private dance in a place like the Griffin is ukp15-ukp20 depending on the pub. So, unless you are greedy you can have a good night for ukp 100 or so.

    Those sound like a fair strip joint prices. £5 for a beer is like 6.5€ and that is what beer costs in most European strip clubs or at least that! £20 for a private dance does not sound bad either.     I went to the spa behind the Sunshine Hotel last night. A bad experience!

     

    Everything nice and clean, great spa service. The girl was stunning. So I accepted her.

     

    However, her massage effords were very poor! Although I had booked the "massage" to be 90 min, after about 15-20 minutes she started on a fast hand-job. I had to tell her to slow down. I wanted to enjoy the evening.

    Is it safe in Frankfurt Red light District?

    I felt safe in Amsterdam, but I felt Reeperbahn RLD in Hamburg was scary because there was junkies and people sleeping on the street at early morning hours.

     

    Very safe I think. You can see some homeless and junkies, but they will usually leave you alone. Just make sure you negotiate what you want with the prostitutes before paying for them, so they do not ask more money for changing the sex position or something else. I think there is much less pickpocketing and scams in Frankfurt, what there is in Amstredam.

    It is a good hotel. I stayed in there for one night, but never brought girls to my room. I still think you should be fine to bring whores to your room. If you want to be 100% sure, just call to the hotel and ask what is their procedure for bringing guests. Then tell us also, what they said!

    I went to this transexual party in East Village last winter and I was disappointed. All the t-girls in there were prostitutes and asking at least couple hundred for sex.
