Bokkingshang is a street in Deventer , next to the driveway to the Wilhelmina bridge over the IJssel . The place was originally a harbor quay where herring was hung up to be smoked herring. In the Middle Ages, was the site of one of the waltorens of the city wall . In 1999 the remains were a 15th century roundel excavated. Nowadays Bokkingshang is a window prostitution street with about 30 workstations. Compared to other prostitution zones is the location striking because it is next to a main approach road to the town. In March 2011, the municipality of Deventer with the support of the court temporarily closed a large part of the prostitution windows because there is no valid license was present for a year.
