Paying for sex is about to become illegal in Northern Ireland. The following law has just received its Royal Assent:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/nia/2015/2/contents/enacted

Paragraph 15 says "A person (A) commits an offence if A obtains sexual services from a person (B)in exchange for payment....."

This clause does not come into effect for six months (so June 2015).

Reading this clause in its context it is clear that the NI puritans have managed to convince the NI Assembly that ALL prostitution is exploitation as the rest of this bill is all about human trafficking and exploitation. I am sure anyone on here, who is right in the head, would condem all forms of slavery, whether for prostitution, domestic slavery, canabis farming, sweat shops etc., but I do not see why the law needs to intervene in a transaction between two adults about money and sex where both parties agree willingly. This may be a moral issue but it certainly is not a matter for the law.

Has there been a good pay4play scene in Northern Ireland. I know back in the days there were some streetgirls around Bankomore St. in Belfast, but that is all i can remember. There must be massage parlors in Northern Ireland these days, am I correct?

Hi SW,

I have not been there for a little while but there are over 150 girls. Not all these will be genuine.

So the indoor scene is still busy there. It will be interesting to see what happens to numbers when the new law comes into force.

Are most prostitutes in Belfast from Bulgaria and Romania or are there some local whores?

Are you being deliberately offensive?

I am a professional working lady in Belfast.

I find respect means a meeting is possible and time and Companionship during that meeting may be very fun indeed.

Respect for each other means clean and happy people enjoy each others company.

Well said Josephine.

In most cases, treating the lady well means a session will be far more enjoyable. You can't expect a Girl Friend Experience if you go in and treat the lady as a "whore".

NYSM may not have meant any offence, if not then I hope he will apologise.

I have been collecting some figures on the number of sex workers advertising on Adultwork and Escort Ireland. I  have not done any checks to see if these are all genuine, but the figures show a drop at the start of the year but flat since then with a small rise in May. I will continue to collect the numbers as it will be intersting to see what happens after 1 June.
